BACKGROUND
Fifteen years old evaporating cooling towers, are a key piece of equipment at HIMA Hospital. Each cooling tower is connected to its corresponding chiller providing air cooling to the 10 story building.
BEFORE AQUA CORRECT
Since make up water for cooling towers comes from well, which carries carbonate salts into the system, client needed to have the typical water treatment regimen in order to keep the quality of the water in control.
Despite of the intents to keep the system running smoothly, fill fouling and carbonate salt deposition were causing several maintenance issues on top of the monthly chemical fee and the loss of cooling efficiency in three chillers. Client was seriously considering to replace the old cooling towers ( $150,000.00 )
AFTER AQUA CORRECT
Client was able to get rid of the maintenance issues and the monthly chemical fee. Make up water reduced from 24,000 to 18,000 GPD,chiller efficiency increased 5%. ROI of less than six months. Savings of $50,000.00 / year.
